Chelsea have decided to recall Aaron Anselmino from the defender’s loan spell at Borussia Dortmund
Chelsea have decided to recall Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, football.london understands.
The Blues had sent the young defender to the Bundesliga outfit on loan for the full season back in August in order to gain valuable first-team experience.
Anselmino has made just 10 appearances for Dortmund this season, including just six in the German top division, and will now return to Stamford Bridge before the end of the January transfer window.
It’s understood that Chelsea included a break clause in the agreement that saw Anselmino join Dortmund on loan last summer, which the Blues are now activating to bring the 20-year-old back to west London.
Chelsea have until February 2 to complete their transfer business for the window, with Anselmino’s future to be assessed upon his return to the club, and it remains to be seen if a loan deal with another club will be agreed.

Signing a new centre-back has been heavily mentioned on the Chelsea rumour mill ever since the turn of the year, with Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet linked with a move to the Club World Cup champions.
New Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior started Benoit Badiashile and Trevoh Chalobah at centre-back in the 3-1 win away at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Jorrel Hato and Wesley Fofana made cameo appearances from the bench for the Blues, while Josh Acheampong was an unused substitute at Selhurst Park.
Levi Colwill is continuing to recover from a knee injury he suffered last summer, with Chelsea looking at the possibility of signing a new central defender before the deadline.
It has previously been reported by football.london that Jacquet is a player of interest to Chelsea, with the 20-year-old centre-back’s contract at Rennes running until the summer of 2029.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move for Jacquet during this month’s transfer window.
