Almost a month after the decision to strip Senegal of its African champion title for the benefit of Morocco, provoking anger and indignation in the country (and beyond), the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe is visiting Dakar this Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He announced at the end of March that he would travel to Senegal and Morocco to emphasize the importance of \u201cworking together to develop African football\u201d, while his institution is facing numerous criticisms. Motsepe therefore kept his word, arriving on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday at Blaise Diagne international airport, near Dakar, where he was welcomed by the president of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), Abdoulaye Fall.<\/p>\n<p>According to a CAF press release, the leader of African football will first visit the island with its powerful historical and memorial past of Gor\u00e9e, symbol of the slave trade, located opposite the Senegalese capital. The Senegalese Football Federation has since appealed this decision to the Administrative Sports Tribunal (CAS), which will rule on an undetermined date.<\/p>\n<p>CAF&#8217;s decision sparked strong reactions in the West African country. In a press release on March 18, the Senegalese government called for the opening of an international investigation \u201cfor suspicions of corruption within the governing bodies\u201d of the pan-African institution.
