Gabriel confided au Telegraph on his confrontations with Haaland, the prolific Norwegian striker who proves to be a formidable opponent for anyone: “I enjoy every match, every striker. Asked if Haaland was his toughest opponent in the Premier League, the South American added: “Yes, of course. »
Haaland is a two-time Golden Boot winner and has previously been crowned Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year. Gabriel, given the consistency he continues to demonstrate, is considered one of the main contenders for the prestigious individual awards for the 2025-2026 season.
He added of his fine form: “This season is my best season. I have to stay humble and I just have to keep going, keep doing what I’m doing. I just have to stay calm and we’ll see what happens in the end. »
Gabriel was clearly keen to talk about the notion of ‘staying humble’, having seen Haaland convey that message to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta last season. The old adversaries are set to battle it out for a major title at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
