In Mikel Arteta’s sights, the Italian will first finish the season with the Magpies.
The path leading to Sandro Tonali (25 years old) should ultimately not succeed for Arsenal during this winter transfer window. According to information from The Athleticit was the player’s representatives who would have proposed his profile to the Gunners, in a context where the Italian international would be considering a departure from Newcastle, despite a contract running until 2029. Information which suggests that Tonali could above all be aiming for a change of club next summer, rather than an immediate transfer in January.
On the side of Arsenal, the interest was real, in particular to compensate for the long unavailability of Mikel Merino, but the file promised to be complex with an amount announced around 70 million euros. A few hours before the market closes, the Gunners should therefore not recruit a new midfielder, and will have to deal with their current squad until the end of the season. Things to follow for this summer…
