Limpar fears Ronaldo will tarnish a record that took him to the top of football with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. As the striker pursues his historic 1,000th goal, the Swede believes that this feat should mark his definitive departure from the field. He warns that moving to the United States at age 41 will not be the “easy” retirement many imagine.
“Why start a new adventure in MLS at 41? It’s not an easy championship, there are a lot of very good players there. My message to Ronaldo is: please, for the sake of your legacy, score your 1,000 goals, then stop there. No one can hope to match what you have achieved as a footballer. Come on, don’t be stubborn, face life and hang up,” Limpar added.
