Crowned African Golden Ball 2025, Achraf Hakimi does not appear in the list of players nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foé prize, which has rewarded the best African player in Ligue 1 since 2009.
Among the 11 names revealed Thursday by France 24 and RFI, we find Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (OM), Lamine Camara (Monaco), Bamba Dieng (Lorient), Guéla Doué (Strasbourg), Martial Godo (Strasbourg), Ilan Kebbal (Paris FC), Hervé Koffi (Angers), Arsène Kouassi (Lorient), Aïssa Mandi (Lille), Moussa Niakhaté (Lyon) and Mamadou Sangaré (Lens).
Rape trial
Hakimi’s absence is a surprise, at first glance. Unless we refer to the criteria to be eligible: playing in Ligue 1, being an African international, having played at least half of the days of the Ligue 1 season and having exemplary behavior both on and off the field.
However, the Moroccan PSG full-back was put on trial for rape on February 24. He is accused by a young woman of non-consensual touching and rape, events which allegedly took place at the player’s home in 2023.
Hakimi always denied it, and again after this announcement. “Today, an accusation of rape is enough to justify a trial even though I contest it and everything shows that it is false,” he reacted on X. “It is as unfair for the innocent as for the sincere victims. I calmly await this trial which will allow the truth to come out publicly. »
