Portland takes out Phoenix, Wembanyama’s Spurs know their opponent in the first round of the play-offs


The play-in is in full swing in the NBA. And in this play-off tournament which sees the teams ranked 7th to 10th in each conference compete, in order to determine who will have the right to battle in the play-offs, Portland did the job against Phoenix on Tuesday evening.

The Blazers won (114-110) thanks to Deni Avdija clutch at the end of the match (41 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists in total). It is therefore they who will face Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs in the first round, starting April 20.

Trailing by 11 points in the fourth quarter, after having led by 11 points themselves in the previous period, the Trail Blazers achieved a magnificent end to the match. Phoenix regained the advantage for a point 32 seconds from the siren with Jordan Goodwin, before Avdija scored a basket with the decisive foul 16 seconds from time.

Phoenix will have one last chance to join the play-offs on Friday, facing the winner of the duel between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors, scheduled for this Wednesday.

In the East, a first ticket will also be validated this Wednesday for the winner of the meeting between Philadelphia and Orlando. The loser will face Charlotte, who took the first step on Tuesday thanks to a 127-126 success after overtime against the Miami Heat.
