Every year, the National Family Allowance Fund (CNAF) is the victim of fraud. In 2025, the organization detected more than 508.8 million euros in fraud. A record number. This is 13% more than in 2024, indicated to the Parisian Nicolas Grivel, general director of Cnaf.
And to try to receive money that they are not supposed to receive, the schemes are varied. According to information from our colleagues, in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), a man in his forties claimed to be the footballer Alexandre Lacazette, who played for Olympique Lyonnais and Arsenal, and who today plays in Saudi Arabia for the Neom SC club. The thug allegedly managed to swindle 200,000 euros in benefits. A fraud discovered in March 2025.
The identities of several footballers stolen
Like Alexandre Lacazette, other famous footballers have had their identities stolen. “These are individuals who manage to find data from real people who do not yet receive benefits. Then, they create accounts on the CAF website, indicate false resource information to receive aid and multiply the process. »
To more easily detect these frauds, sometimes carried out by networks, the Cnaf set up, in 2021, a national service to combat high-stakes fraud (SNLFE). The activities of suspect recipients are scrutinized: their banking data and social networks are analyzed in particular.
The CNAF also works hand in hand with law enforcement. “We have strengthened our means and detection capabilities by increasing partnerships with police, gendarmerie and customs services. We are also strengthening our expertise by integrating judicial police officers into our teams, who allow us to work better and better with the justice system,” explains Nicolas Grivel.
