It’s only mid-April but there’s already a scent of late spring floating around the Roland-Garros site. The sun and the view overlooking the central court help us look forward to this 2026 edition which will open its doors on Monday May 18. It is in this context that the president of the French Federation, Gilles Moretton, and the tournament director, Amélie Mauresmo, launched hostilities this Thursday, with the traditional presentation press conference.
No big news to announce, but still some improvements, particularly around player comfort. Also note a special “Gaël & Friends” evening, to properly celebrate the 20th and last Roland de Monfils. It will take place during qualifying week, on Thursday 21 from 7:30 p.m. on Central. On the menu, tennis and shows, the two great passions of the Monf’.
“We gave him the keys,” Mauresmo said, smiling. It’s an event that we wanted to build around him, firstly to thank him for all these adventures experienced here in Roland, all these emotions that he made us experience, and then to celebrate his somewhat unique personality and his world. » The best players of the moment are expected, with surely some glorious veterans as well. On the music side, DJ Martin Solveig, singers Franglish and Matt Pokora will provide the show.

A ticket office dedicated to this event will open soon. All profits will be donated to associations, chosen by the FFT and the player himself. A “more classic” tribute will also be paid to Monfils after his last match, as we have seen in recent years with Richard Gasquet or Jo Tsonga. “There we will be more of the emotion of the end, of the last match, of goodbye to a public who loves him enormously,” projects Mauresmo.
