It’s a beautiful story written about a drama. On January 1, Tahirys Dos Santos was included in the terrible toll of the fire in Crans-Montana which left 41 dead and 115 injured. Almost four months later, the 19-year-old signed his first one-year professional contract with FC Metz on Monday.
Trained at the club and captain of the N3 reserve team at the start of the season, the left back sometimes trained with the pros and was called up on December 20 for a French Cup match in Biesheim. About ten days later, he was at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, where the fatal fire broke out.
“This ordeal made me stronger”
Burned on 30% of his body after going to look for his partner, the Franco-Cape Verdean regained his place in the reserve team two weeks ago and was started last Saturday. “I am very happy and proud to sign my first professional contract with my training club,” commented the left back in a Grenats press release.
“It is the culmination of many years of work, sacrifice and determination to make my childhood dream come true. This moment has an even more special flavor after the complicated months I went through in the hospital,” he explains. “This ordeal made me stronger and taught me to never give up. (…) Finally, I want to send all my support to all the people who are still fighting. Never lose hope. »
