(Football) The title match in England, the coronation match in Germany?

“Final” in Manchester
The title race, the fight for the Champions League and the battle to maintain it will make the 33rd day of the Premier League exciting. It will be very hot on Sunday (5:30 p.m.) in Manchester City where Arsenal, the leader in poor form, comes to challenge its big competitor for the throne. The Gunners are six points ahead, of course, but they have played one more match than the sky blue ogre, whose current form is much more virtuous.
Saturday, London hosts three high-stakes matches: Brentford-Fulham (1:30 p.m.), competitors for European places, Tottenham-Brighton (6:30 p.m.), vital for relegated Spurs (18th, 30 pts), and Chelsea-Manchester United (9 p.m.), two clubs fighting for a place in C1. Sixth (48 pts), Chelsea is currently out of the race while Man U (3rd, 55 pts) remains well placed despite its defeat on Monday against Leeds. Between the two, we find Aston Villa (4th, 55 pts), host of Sunderland (10th) on Sunday (3 p.m.), and Liverpool (5th, 52 pts), expected at the same time at their rival Everton (8th).
And 35 for Bayern?
Four days after qualifying for the semi-finals of the Champions League, Bayern can secure a 35th German championship title on Sunday, the 13th in the last 14 seasons. With a 12-point lead five days before the end of the championship over Dortmund (76 against 64), the Bavarians must count on a misstep (draw or defeat) by BVB at Hoffenheim on Saturday (3:30 p.m.), and beat Stuttgart on Sunday in Munich.
Behind, the fight for the 3rd and 4th qualifying places for the C1 continues between Stuttgart (3rd, 56 points), Leipzig (4th, 56), Leverkusen (5th, 52) and Hoffenheim (6th, 51). Leipzig goes to Frankfurt (7th, 42 pts) on Saturday (6:30 p.m.), while Leverkusen receives Augsburg (10th) at 3:30 p.m. At the same time, in Berlin, Marie-Louise Eta will start on the Union bench, she who on Sunday became the first female coach of a 1st division men’s team in the European top 5.

Inter to drive the point home

Leader of Serie A, Inter Milan can get even closer to a 21st scudetto on the 33rd day. The Nerazzurri (75 points) enter the field on Friday (8:45 p.m.) by hosting the poorly ranked Cagliari (16th, 33 pts) and can, at least provisionally, put their runner-up Napoli (2nd, 66 pts) at 12 points, who host Lazio (9th, 44 pts) on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Sunday, AC Milan (3rd, 63 pts), which remains in a rout at home against Udinese (3-0), visits relegated Verona (19th, 18 pts). Juventus Turin (4th, 60 pts), back on the heels of Milan with its four successes in the last five days, will close the weekend with the reception of Bologna (8th, 48 pts).

Spain: a trophy at stake

La Liga takes a break to make way for the Copa del Rey final on Saturday (9 p.m.) between Antoine Griezmann’s Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad, the Frenchman’s training club, in Seville. Qualified for the last four of the C1, the Madrilenians can win their first trophy since 2021 and their title of champion of Spain without the attacker, then at Barça. The Frenchman would thus begin his farewell tour perfectly as he will join MLS and Orlando this summer.
