Last year, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen were said to have already inquired about Valdepenas. According to the latest information, Frankfurt is not alone in the race: Arsenal and AC Milan are also following the file. Eintracht therefore faces strong competition to recruit the former Spanish U19 international.
Valdepenas made his first-team debut in mid-December under former manager Xabi Alonso, starting at left-back in a 2–1 win over Alavés. He is yet to play another match at the highest level, but is a regular starter for Real’s second team, who play in Spain’s third division: he has made 26 appearances and scored two goals for Castilla this season.
In Frankfurt, the possible departure of Nnamdi Collins this summer could require defensive reinforcement. Under contract until 2030, the 22-year-old player is however considering a transfer. The Premier League would be particularly attentive to his situation; Eintracht is said to be open to a sale, setting a price of around 40 million euros.
