Zubimendi’s withdrawal is the latest blow in a selection period which has turned into a real nightmare for Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard thus becomes the tenth Arsenal player to withdraw from the national team during this break, forcing the Gunners’ medical staff to work overtime before the resumption of the Premier League.
Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Magalhaes, Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Noni Madueke and Piero Hincapie also withdrew from the national team over the past week.
