When asked who was currently ahead in the race to secure the services of Europe’s most sought-after young striker, Depolo pointed to north London. He cited the cultural and personal connections within the Gunners’ current squad as key factors that could tip the scales in favor of a move to the Emirates Stadium over other destinations.
“I think it’s too early to say, but given that the player speaks Spanish, as does Mikel Arteta, and that William Saliba is from Cameroon, I would say that Arsenal are in pole position,” Depolo concluded. With the foundations now seemingly laid, the ball is now in Arsenal’s court to meet Leverkusen’s financial demands and secure the services of one of the most promising talents in world football.
