Earlier today, Florian Plettenberg, from Sky Sport, wrote that Arsenal are interested in Christian Kofane. The agent of this young talent (19 years old) from Bayer Leverkusen has now confirmed this information from Germany, and believes that les Gunners are best placed to recruit their client at the end of this season, from the Bundesliga.
Arsenal were recently very impressed by Kofane in the Champions League Round of 16 against Leverkusen. Although the six-time Cameroonian international did not score during this double losing confrontation (1-1, 2-0), he left a lasting impression.
Leverkusen signed Kofane last summer for a modest fee of around five million euros from Spanish second division club Albacete. Kofane did not immediately receive much playing time under coach Erik ten Hag, but he rose through the ranks shortly after the latter’s dismissal.
Kofane is fielded in almost all matches of la Werkselfwhere he now appears more often than not in the starting lineup. To date, he has 7 goals and 8 assists in 39 appearances for Leverkusen, where he is under contract until mid-2029.
Besides Arsenal, other major English clubs are interested in Kofane, who is also closely followed by Real Madrid. According to Plettenberg, Leverkusen are asking between 60 and 70 million euros for the striker, and the management are already in contact with Kofane’s agent regarding a transfer.
The latter, Eric Depolo, has just confirmed Daily Arsenal that his client is attracting interest from the north London club. “Yes, Arsenal’s interest is sincere. The coach (Mikel Arteta, editor’s note) is very seduced by him. »
Depolo also reveals which other clubs are keenly interested in Kofane: Chelsea, Newcastle United, Everton, Brentford, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich. Depolo, however, believes that Arsenal are in “pole position”.
“I think it’s still too early to say, but given that the player speaks Spanish, as does Mikel Arteta, and William Saliba is from Cameroon, I would say Arsenal have the best chance. »
“Yes, there are contacts between me and Arsenal. But their priority now is to win the championship – that’s where everything will fall into place. He is a player worth 100 million euros. With Kofane, Arsenal will have a top striker for the next 10 years. »
“I have never received so many calls about Kofane as I do right now. He is currently the best under-21 striker in Europe and the most complete. He is fast, technically solid, excellent in defense and strong with his head. It is very difficult to find all these qualities in a single striker,” explains Depolo, who finally confirms that Arsenal is preparing an official offer for next summer.
