History repeats itself at Barça: a young Cameroonian striker explodes in a tough competition and ends up on the Catalan club’s radar. Christian Kofane (18), who moved from Albacete to Bayer Leverkusen for 5 million euros last summer, is already establishing himself as his country’s great hope. Revelation in Liga Hypermotion, confirmed in the Bundesliga and during the CAN, he is compared to Samuel Eto’o.
Leverkusen beat Real Madrid to recruit him. After a successful adaptation (starts, goals in the Bundesliga and Champions League), Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand was right. Kofane combines speed, technique, defense and heading – a rare profile.
Arsenal on pole, but Barça follows closely
His agent, Eric Depolo, confirms the interest of European big names: Arsenal (where Arteta appreciates his Spaniard and his compatriot Saliba), Newcastle, Everton, Brentford, Bayern Munich… and Barcelona. “Kofane is already worth 100 million euros. He is the best under-21 striker in Europe,” he assures. At 18, he could be the perfect successor to Lewandowski, whose exit door is partially open.
