Victory was mandatory for Manchester City this Sunday against Chelsea. The men of Pep Guardiola absolutely had to win to benefit from Arsenal’s defeat against Bournemouth and thus come back to six points behind the Gunners. It’s done since the Cityzens won three goals to nothing this Sunday in London.
The Blues dominated the first period and thought they would open the score shortly after the quarter of an hour of play but the goal from Marc Cucurella was canceled for an offside position.
It was ultimately the visitors who scored the first goal of the game via Nico O’Reillywho deceived Robert Sanchez header in the 51st minute of play. A few minutes later, Rayan Cherki found Marc Ghériwho was responsible for doubling the bet.
Shortly before the 70th minute of play, Jérémy Doku pressed Moises Caicedo and recovered the ball. The Belgian then advanced with the ball before deceiving Sanchez with a left shot to seal the score of the match. The number eleven thus scored his fourth goal of the season, the second in the league.
The Blues and the Cityzens will face each other next Sunday. As a reminder, Manchester City has one game in hand.
