Atlético: fans will follow Arsenal

Atlético Madrid qualified for the semi-finals of the Champions League despite their defeat against FC Barcelona (1-2).

Diego Simeone and his men are in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The Madrid club took advantage of their 2-0 advantage in the first leg.

Lenglet was not in the match

Lamine Yamal opened the scoring following a big mistake from Clément Lenglet, ex-Barça player. The Atlético defender, wanting to put the ball back, sent it directly to the opposing team.

In the 24th minute, the Catalan club did it again. Ferran Torres doubled the lead, making the score 2-0, on an assist from Dani Olmo. Shortly after, Lenglet made another mistake, but this time luck smiled on him.

Fermín’s attempt was repelled by Musso, and the Barcelona striker suffered a serious head injury. However, he was able to return to play after receiving treatment.

Lookman, the Winter Soldier

After half an hour of play, the Madrid club reacted. Ademola Lookman reduced the gap to 1-2, giving Atlético the lead again. Hansi Flick’s team then had a few more chances.

She also demands a penalty after Olmo’s fall, but referee Clément Turpin does not flinch. The two teams return to the locker rooms with a score of 2-1.

A disallowed goal and a red card

In the 55th minute, Barcelona thought they were leading 3-1 thanks to Torres, but the goal was disallowed by VAR for offside. The Spanish striker then struggled to create clear chances for a long period.

They needed one more goal to qualify for the semi-finals, but they failed to do so. In the 79th minute, Eric Garcia was sent off and the Catalans had to continue the game with ten men.
