Sneijder says he is ‘stunned’ after watching footage of Arsenal training session

Theo Janssen, consultant pour Ziggo Sportssays with astonishment that Mikel Arteta’s training methods at Arsenal would have been unthinkable when he was still playing as a midfielder.

In the studio, images of a Gunners session are projected: a screen shows the faces of supporters, while deafening music punctuates the exercise. On the pitch, the players perform a rondo.

“I experienced this once in Qatar, in Al-Gharafa. There, we can still do that,” responds Wesley Sneijder with a laugh. “But not at Arsenal. Come on man, what are we talking about? »

“What is Arteta trying to achieve? I don’t know. Maybe a certain detachment,” Sneijder tries to explain, perplexed. Janssen then passes a harsh judgment on the Arsenal coach.

“I’m sure that in my time, if this had happened with the Dutch national team, Wesley, Rafael van der Vaart and the others would have invaded the pitch laughing,” says Janssen, also stunned.

This much-discussed training session preceded the Bournemouth reception on Saturday; it did not bear fruit, the Premier League leader losing 1-2 at home. On Sunday, Arsenal faces Manchester City, their runner-up at six points and with a game in hand.
