Arsenal-Sporting bat un triste record


Winner 0-1 in the first leg on Portuguese soil, Arsenal validated his ticket for the semi-finals by conceding a draw against a Sporting CP enterprising at the Emirates Stadium. But off the field, this quarter-final return enters the Champions League through the back door.

According to the first consolidated figures, the meeting only brought together 4.7 million viewers accumulated across all international broadcasters. It is one of the worst audiences for a C1 quarter-final since the creation of the new format in 1992.

A figure which finds its explanation in viewer interest in the Bayern-Real match contested simultaneously. The meeting between the two big names in European football brought together more than 85 million witnesses. And we can’t say that they missed much since the match Arsenal-Sporting ended goalless.

As a reminder, the cannon club is qualified for the semi-finals and travels to Madrid on April 29 to challenge Atlético. The men of Mikel Arteta will try to validate their ticket for the final on May 5 during the return match at the Emirates
