Les Tops de Manchester City – Arsenal
1. Un Cherki XXL

The Frenchman was the most prominent player in the first half. He knew how to make the right moves at the right times. After a first attempt blocked then repelled by Raya’s post in the 4th minute, Rayan Cherki distinguished himself in the most beautiful way by offering the Etihad public a gem of a sequence of which he alone has the secret to unlock the Manchester City score (1-0 in the 16th minute).
2. Doku makes the Gunners dizzy

The Belgian winger was fantastic. Facing a struggling London defense, he showed off his percussion skills and succeeded on several occasions in unbalancing the back four. Unlike his counterpart Antoine Semenyo’s match, Jérémy Doku was the man in form in the Mancunian attack. He gives way to Savinho in the 88th minute of play.
3. The City Wall

The two central defenders of the Skyblues were solid. Marc Guéhi showed himself more in the first half, while Abdukodir Khusanov distinguished himself by his outings at the feet of the Arsenal attackers, thanks to his impressive physique. If both erase a few shortcomings in their transmissions, Pep Guardiola could well have found his match in central defense!
Les Flops de Manchester City – Arsenal
4. Donnarumma finds her old demons

Put in difficulty on each back pass, each long-footed play, the Italian goalkeeper completely got through his match. The change came in the 18th minute just after Cherki’s goal. The Manchester City goalkeeper receives a ball behind him and loses control then passes the ball too late.
Result: Kai Havertz presses and counters the ball directly into the Mancunian nets (1-1). The goalkeeper redeems himself somewhat in the 59th minute on a very dangerous recovery from the Gunners, he makes a crucial double save to keep the two teams tied.
5. Antoine Semenyo misses out

The Ghanaian simply missed his match. His lack of technical accuracy cost Manchester City too much. At no time was the former Bournemouth striker dangerous, despite good services from his teammates such as in the 50th minute with Rodri’s lobbed deep pass. Antoine Semenyo loses his control alone against Raya. In the second period, the summer recruit didn’t shine much better…
6. Arsenal heckled in midfield

The return of their captain Martin Odegaard was expected to provide some help to the Gunners, but City were stronger on Sunday. The three in the middle couldn’t find the ones in front. Manhandled by the accuracy of opposing transmissions, they were quite simply invisible in this meeting. Martin Zubimendi will also give way to Viktor Gyokeres in the 84th. Declan Rice did not dictate his game as he is capable of.
