Unsurprisingly, several European big names are closely monitoring Kostov’s performances in Belgrade, where he is shining this season in the colors of Red Star. In the short term, he is expected to focus on delivering his club a ninth consecutive Super Liga title as the championship finals get underway. However, his future will be the subject of all attention from the next summer transfer window.
The young player has already been linked with Arsenal, AC Milan, Barcelona (against whom he scored a mischievous Panenka in the UEFA Youth League in 2024), Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, while Stankovic’s links with Inter suggest the Italian giant is also in the race. However, having only signed a new lease until 2028 in October, the Serbian club finds itself in a strong position.
It remains to be seen whether the club will decide to sell him this summer, for what promises to be a record amount for a Serbian player. Regardless, the player says he is not bothered by these speculations.
“I’m not too impressed by the rumors about my departure,” he confided at Sports. “All these big numbers, 25 million euros… It doesn’t affect my game or my stay here. »
Nevertheless, the young man hinted that he had already passed the level of the Serbian elite and dropped a hint about his future destination: “I can’t say it’s too easy, because there are a lot of experienced and high-quality players in the Super Liga. Of course, I think I can play at a higher level, that’s obvious. For now, this suits me perfectly. »
He concludes: “I think I would thrive more in Germany or Italy. As I said before, I don’t focus on my desires. My main goal is not to leave this summer. »
