Already described as a “shit logo” by several ultra groups at the Vélodrome stadium two weeks ago, OM’s new graphic identity is definitely not popular in Marseille. Launched on the subject by BFM Marseille Provence, Benoît Payan has attacked this famous controversial logo with a flamethrower since its launch on April 8.
The PS mayor of Marseille, re-elected in March, immediately blurted out: “He is horrible. I’ve seen logos, but never such ugly logos. It’s a mistake, they made a mistake. I think it needs to be fixed.”
Payan refers to Volkswagen troll
Suffice it to say that the Marseille elected official is openly calling on the club’s management to reverse course on this sensitive issue, in a (still) trying season, notably marked by the departures of Roberto De Zerbi and Pablo Longoria.
Benoît Payan even quips ironically at the same time: “Do you realize that Volkswagen has twisted its logo by making fun of us and saying that the OM logo is that of Volkswagen? I think he doesn’t quite match Olympique de Marseille. Some tell me we’ll get used to it. Yes, you get used to everything, but I don’t like it. » The message has gotten through, and the famous “mutation” driven by the club is struggling to convince Marseille.
