Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze trained with his teammates on Tuesday in an injury boost for Mikel Arteta’s side before their Champions League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old was withdrawn during the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday, with The Athletic reporting on Monday that the England international was set to undergo assessments.
Eze downplayed concerns after the game, telling reporters his substitution was “precautionary” and was seen in training on Tuesday morning, in what is positive news for the north London side.
Kai Havertz, who was substituted during the first half of Saturday’s victory due to what appeared to be a groin injury, was not present at training. However, The Athletic has reported that Arsenal are optimistic that the Germany international has avoided serious injury and will be able to play a role in the Premier League title run-in.

Riccardo Calafiori was also in training on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Italy international has missed Arsenal’s last four games in all competitions due to an unspecified issue.
Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino were the other two absentees from training. Timber, 24, has been sidelined since March 14 due to an injury he sustained against Everton, while Merino, 29, continues to recover from the broken foot injury he sustained in January.
Arsenal will travel to Madrid to face Atletico in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano on Wednesday. Arsenal manager Arteta is set to speak to reporters before the game Tuesday. The decider is back in London on Tuesday next week.
