“It could have been much worse”… Debora Silvestri suffers five broken ribs after her terrible fall

The Italian Debora Silvestri, despite herself, occupied the news of the legendary Milan-San Remo race as much as Tadej Pogacar on Saturday. The 27-year-old runner was indeed the victim of a terrible fall which made people fear the worst. On social networks, the video of his accident over a guardrail, on the descent of the Cipressa (18 km from the finish) went viral.

Debora Silvestri was descending at high speed when she collided with a group of competitors who had fallen in front of her, before finding herself a few meters lower on a tarmac path. Remaining motionless – although conscious, for long seconds, the Italian was taken care of by the race’s emergency medical services. Transported to a hospital to undergo examinations, she wanted to reassure everyone on her Instagram account on Saturday evening.
