The 19th day of the Top 14 shook up the rankings behind Stade Toulousain, more leader than ever. In the fight for maintenance, nothing changes following the defeats of Montauban and Perpignan. Lyon and Bayonne give each other some breathing room thanks to their away victories.
Montpellier, new runner-up to Toulouse
Montpellier’s victory in Clermont (17-20) allowed the Héraultais to take 2nd place in the championship. Pau fell one place following its defeat at Stade Rochelais (20-6). Racing is getting closer to the qualifying places for the final phases by winning largely against Castres (52-21).
With its brilliant victory against the reshuffled Toulouse leader (44-18), Bordeaux Bègles is 4th, tied with Pau, 3rd.
Perpignan and Montauban lose hope
It’s difficult to hope for better than the dams and the bottom place for the Catalans (13th, 19 points) and the USM (14th, with 7 points) after their defeats at home, respectively against Lyon (28-32) and Bayonne (26-60).
