Arsenal found something better than Gyökeres… for “only” €40 million

After approaching Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez, the Gunners are recruiting a new Argentine striker.

Arsenal continues to monitor the market for young attackers ahead of the next summer transfer window. According to information from Brazilian media RTI SportMikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta particularly appreciate the profile of Santiago Castro, Bologna striker. Aged 21 and sometimes nicknamed “little Lautaro Martinez”, the Argentinian international of the Espoirs has established himself as one of the revelations of Serie A in recent months. Since his arrival in January 2024, he has already totaled 21 goals and 12 assists in 93 matches in all competitions.

However, Arsenal’s interest would not be the only one in this matter. Brazilian club Flamengo are also understood to have tried to enter the race, but Bologna’s financial demands could quickly cool the suitors.
