A forgotten Arsenal relaunched by Real Madrid?

Barred by competition this season, young Myles Lewis-Skelly could bounce back into the ranks of another European big name.

Real Madrid could try to take advantage of Myles Lewis-Skelly’s delicate situation at Arsenal. Revelation of the 2024-2025 season with 42 appearances in all competitions, the 19-year-old young player has seen his status evolve this season. Despite a contract extended until 2030, he has only started once in the Premier League, mostly making do with starters, notably due to competition from Piero Hincapié and Riccardo Calafiori for the left-back position.

Asked about his situation, Gunners coach Mikel Arteta was reassuring, while recognizing the strong competition in the squad. “Yes, he will have opportunities, and when those opportunities present themselves, he will have to take them. His attitude was excellent. He is not playing more because other players are also fit. They were phenomenal”he explained. But the lack of playing time could slow down the player’s progress and complicate his ambitions with England for the 2026 World Cup.

Arsenal opens the door

According to information from Football InsiderArsenal would now consider a loan during the next summer transfer window in order to offer him more minutes. Everton would be interested in this versatile profile, capable of playing in defense or in midfield. For its part, Real Madrid would also monitor the situation of the young London talent, attentive to a possible opportunity to attract one of the Gunners’ most promising prospects. A loan will perhaps be the solution for the Merengues, while its market value is already around 35 million euros.
