This is the logical next step. After having refereed the biggest European matches (VI Nations Tournament, European Cup) and world matches (test matches), Hollie Davidson will take on the best championship in the world, the Top 14. The National Rugby League announced Tuesday that “the Scotsman would become the very first woman to direct a Top 14 match as a central referee”.
It will be during the “derby” between Clermont and Lyon, the weekend of April 18-19, at the Marcel-Michelin stadium. These are two teams that Hollie Davidson knows well since she was at the center of debates during ASM or LOU matches in the European Cup, notably during the Lyonnais final in the Challenge Cup last season.
She was voted best referee of the year by World Rugby in 2025. This season, we were able to see Hollie Davidson at work during the VI Nations Tournament match between Ireland and Italy, the test match between Wales and New Zealand or the Champions Cup match between Saracens… and Clermont.
