Jérôme Boateng is in trouble again with the German justice system. Crowned world football champion with the Mannschaft in 2014, he is under investigation by the Munich public prosecutor’s office for driving without a license. The media Bild revealed the information on Saturday in an article spotted by our colleagues at RMC Sport.
The 37-year-old former international was arrested at the wheel of his vehicle in November 2025 while his license had been suspended since October 9. An investigation has been opened and if he is found guilty in this case, German law provides for a fine or imprisonment of up to one year.
Already sentenced in 2022
Having played for Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyonnais, Jérôme Boateng retired from football during the summer of 2025. In the columns of Bildthe spokesperson for the Munich public prosecutor’s office explains that he could also see his driving license permanently withdrawn, for repeat offenses and non-compliance with “a previous offense”.
This is not the first time that the footballer has found himself in turmoil. In 2022, German justice sentenced him to a fine of 1.2 million euros for having assaulted his ex-partner and mother of his two children in 2018. A slightly reduced sentence, since he received a fine of 1.8 million euros at first instance.
