A 51-year-old British cyclist died on the road


The arrival of emergency services and the first aid provided were not enough. A 51-year-old British man died this Saturday during the “We Ride Flanders” race, the Tour of Flanders for amateurs run the day before the Ronde reserved for professionals. According to Belgian media, this cyclist died around midday on the road near Hotond in Kluisbergen, after feeling unwell.

This is not the first time that a tragedy has affected this cyclosportive which offers four race formats (from 79 to 247 km). Last year, two amateur cyclists also fell ill and lost their lives on these Flandrian roads. More than 14,000 cyclists met this Saturday.
