Accused of having resold collectibles linked to the 2024 Olympics on his behalf, the vice-president of the CNOSF resigns


Two days after the revelations of The Teamthe vice-president of the CNOSF presented his resignation. A great collector of sports objects, Stéphane Hatot, the president of the French Force Federation (arm wrestling, athletic strength) and boss of the French Association of Olympic and Sports Collectors (AFCOS), was caught red-handed reselling objects linked to the 2024 Olympics on the internet via his company Wscollection95. Objects that he had acquired free of charge or at reduced prices and which he resold, under a pseudonym, for tidy sums.

This thus sold on its behalf relics of the Olympic Games such as the Marie-Antoinette costume used during the opening ceremony, from the Liberty of the Conciergerie painting with the Metal Gojira group, sold for 950 euros, or even a chair used on the edge of the field during the basketball tournament (999 euros). These revelations caused a stir on the CNOSF side, forcing its vice-president to leave through the back door.

An internal investigation opened by the CNOSF

“The CNOSF takes note of the resignation of Stéphane Hatot from all his functions at the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, following the revelations of the newspaper l’Équipe on the resale of collectibles from the Paris 2024 Games, which brought to the attention of the CNOSF particularly problematic actions on his part,” we can read in a press release from the body published Monday afternoon.

“This resignation does not put an end to the steps taken by the CNOSF, whose President, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, immediately referred the matter to the ethics committee,” continues the body. The work of this committee will continue to analyze the facts. Its conclusions will be known quickly and the CNOSF will draw all necessary conclusions. If elements likely to constitute a criminal classification were to be established, a report under article 40 of the code of criminal procedure will be made without delay by the CNOSF. »
