National tribute to soldier Florian Montorio killed in Lebanon

France mourns its soldiers killed in the context of the war in the Middle East. A second French soldier from the UN mission in Lebanon, Master Corporal Anicet Girardin, died on Wednesday, after being seriously injured in an attack attributed to Hezbollah. It was in this ambush that another French soldier, adjutant Florian Montorio, was fatally shot on Saturday. In total, three French soldiers have been killed since the start of the war led by Israel and the United States against Iran, with the death in mid-March in Iraq of Major Arnaud Frion. A national tribute to Warrant Officer Florian Montorio will take place this Thursday in his regiment, in the presence of the Minister of the Armed Forces and the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Pierre Schill.

New discussions in the United States between Israel and Lebanon

While Donald Trump has indefinitely extended the United States’ ceasefire with Iran, will de-escalation take place this Thursday between Israel and Lebanon? The answer will soon be known because the two countries will hold a new session of talks in Washington during which Beirut wants to request a one-month extension of the truce in force since April 17. However, the guns may not be completely silent. The pro-Iranian Hezbollah is in fact largely absent from these discussions to which it is opposed.
