Injured wrist, Carlos Alcaraz withdraws from the tournament

It’s a hard blow for the fans, for the tournament, and especially for him. Carlos Alcaraz will not see Porte d’Auteuil this year. The double title holder announced on Friday that he was withdrawing from participating in Roland-Garros due to a right wrist injury.

“After the results of the examinations carried out today, we decided to remain cautious and not participate in Rome and Roland Garros, while waiting to see the evolution (of his injury) to decide when we will return to the court,” declared the world No. 2 on his social networks.

The Parisian Grand Slam will be deprived of one of the public’s favorites. The Spaniard won over the fans by winning the tournament against Alexander Zverev in 2024, and Jannik Sinner in 2025. He remained on a series of four consecutive Grand Slam finals (victories in Paris and New York in 2025, as well as in Melbourne in 2026, and finalist beaten in London in 2025).

Alcaraz had lined up at the Barcelona tournament ten days ago, but withdrew after his victory against Otto Virtanen in the first round. On social networks, the Roland-Garros tournament wished him a speedy recovery. In his absence, Jannik Sinner will advance as the big favorite in the men’s draw.
