The start of the fourth stage of the Tour of Catalonia 2026 will be given in Mataró, near the sea. What was supposed to be a difficult mountain stage with 4,000 meters of altitude difference was modified due to the wind. The arrival will therefore no longer be at the summit. So the end of the race at an altitude of 2,100 meters ended, which should have been favorable… for the sprinters, who have been celebrating since the start of the week.

A modified finale, no finish at Vallter 2000

The Coll de Parpers (4.7 km at 3.7%) and the Alt de Sant Feliu de Codines (4.6 km at 4.1%) will launch hostilities from the start of the race.

According to a press release published in the evening, the organization modified the end of the race in view of the extreme weather conditions: “Due to the triggering of a VENCAT level 3 alert, with wind gusts expected up to 90 km/h at the summit of Vallter, the Tour of Catalonia was forced to shorten the route of its 4th stage.”

The finish will take place in Camprodon, at the foot of the final ascent which was to take place in Vallter 2000. There will therefore be no major difficulties on the route of this 4th stage. Frenchman Dorian Godon (INEOS Grenadiers), leader of the general classification, should still show his best side.
