Club: Only three coaches better paid than Luis Enrique?

In discussions with PSG to sign a new contract, Luis Enrique could soon join the Top 5 highest paid coaches in the world, he who is currently behind Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) and Antonio Conte (Naples) for example.

Under contract at PSG until 2027 since his extension in February 2025, Luis Enrique would receive 1 million euros gross per month according to estimates from L’Equipe, which makes him the highest paid coach in Ligue 1, well ahead of Paulo Fonseca (OL) and Habib Beye (OM), who have gross monthly salaries estimated at 350,000 and 230,000 euros.

But Luis Enrique has been discussing a contract extension until 2030 with PSG for several months, which would obviously include a significant salary increase. According to L’Equipe, Luis Enrique’s future salary could therefore be around €20 million gross per year, or €1.66 million gross per month. In other words, Luis Enrique could receive a nice increase of 660,000 euros per month compared to his current contract.

A future salary of €20 million gross per year for Luis Enrique?

Given his achievements at the head of PSG since his arrival in 2023 and since his last extension, with the first Champions League in the club’s history won last May, this great increase would not be scandalous, especially since the Asturian enjoys more than ever a high rating abroad, especially in England where he has never coached.

In the event of an extension at PSG and an increase to €20 million gross per month, Luis Enrique would become the 4th highest paid coach in the world according to L’Equipe estimates, ahead of Antonio Conte (€15.6 million/year at Naples) and Mikel Arteta (€15 million/year at Arsenal). However, three coaches would remain better paid than Luis Enrique: Diego Simeone (Atlético Madrid, €29.8 million), Simone Inzaghi (Al-Hilal, €25.1 million) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City, €23.8 million).

Asked this Thursday about the leaks concerning his salary and the possibility that they could cause talk in his locker room, Luis Enrique appeared surprised and a bit annoyed: “Do you think that in my locker room they are interested in my salary? Speaking about this, I find it “fuera de lugar” (out of place, out of place). But of course I’m one of the highest paid coaches in the world and that’s great for me. »
