Before facing PSG, Liverpool gets spanked by Manchester City, with a hat-trick from Erling Haaland

Beware of overconfidence. The day after their great victory in the league against Toulouse, with a great Ousmane Dembélé, the Parisians must surely have taken a look, this Saturday, at the FA Cup quarter-final clash between Manchester City and Liverpool. And, four days before facing the Reds in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, PSG should not tremble too much.

Because Arne Slot’s men were truly eaten away by the Cityzens at the Etihad Stadium. Four goals conceded, including a hat-trick from Erling Haaland and a clean elimination. Struggling in the Premier League, five points from direct qualification for the Champions League, Liverpool has suffered another disappointment this season.

Wrong rate and penalty

Although off to a good start in this quarter-final, Mohamed Salah’s teammates foundered at the end of the first period, with two goals conceded in six minutes. And, after the Skyblues’ fourth goal in the 58th minute of play, a good part of the fans who had made the short trip to Manchester began to leave the parking lot reserved for visiting supporters.

This will at least have allowed them not to witness the missed penalty, a few minutes later, by Mohamed Salah, who will leave the club at the end of the season. Certainly, when nothing is going well…
