Olympique Lyonnais thought they were rid of John Textor, but this is not the case. On March 27, the holding company Eagle Bidco, majority shareholder of OL, was placed under administration, which excluded the American. But, this Saturday, the Brazilian club Botafogo, chaired by… Textor, confirmed having filed a complaint against Lyon.
“Botafogo filed a legal complaint on Friday against Olympique Lyonnais, due to debts which exceed 745 million reais”, or 125 million euros, wrote the Brazilian team on its X account. This complaint relates, according to Botafogo, to several loans granted to OL when John Textor was at the head of the two clubs.
“Although it benefited from the funds received, the French club failed in its obligations, refusing to repay the debt of the Eagle group clubs (Botafogo and Molenbeek), adds the Brazilian club in its press release. This failure to pay has had a direct impact on the operation of Botafogo, compromising financial planning and affecting the ability to renew contracts and recruit players. »
