As announced last week on France Info, the new mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire, has officially relaunched the file for the sale of the Parc des Princes to PSG. Anne Hidlago’s successor received the mandate from the Paris Council on Tuesday evening to “start discussions” with President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the first essential step on the long road which could lead to an agreement.
Emmanuel Grégoire reaffirmed on this occasion his wish, on a personal level, to find common ground for a supervised sale of the Porte d’Auteuil enclosure. “Letting Paris Saint-Germain leave the Parc des Princes would be a political, sporting and historical mistake,” he declared in particular.
The resumption of discussions should allow PSG to remain in its stadium, as part of a vast project to develop a “Porte des Princes” which would see the light of day between the Porte de Saint-Cloud and the Porte d’Auteuil. “The revenues from this sale or lease will be entirely used for the development of local sports, the construction and renovation of sports equipment, as well as the redevelopment of the Porte de Saint-Cloud,” assured the mayor, promising that there would be no shopping center.
The latter also committed to creating a transpartisan working group within the Paris Council. The communists and environmentalists of the new majority, however, abstained, calling for a consultation of Parisians before any decision. An option ruled out by Grégoire.

While the situation was blocked with Anne Hidalgo, pushing Nasser Al-Khelaïfi to threaten a departure for Massy (Essonne) or Poissy (Yvelines), these signs of goodwill coming from the town hall rejoice the leaders of PSG. The Parisian club published a press release this Wednesday morning in which it “takes note” of the decision of the Paris Council and says it is “willing to reopen discussions”. This will undoubtedly brighten the day of thousands of club supporters.
