Teddy Riner reveals himself through a quiz from Rio to Los Angeles

Football club, gastronomy, monument, film… Teddy Riner took a quiz on his must-sees in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Paris and Los Angeles. Three cities in which the knitting legend won – or will try to win for Los Angeles – a gold medal at the Olympic Games to further enhance his champion journey. Hajime!

A football team: Flamengo, Paris Saint-Germain or Los Angeles FC?

Wow, it’s complicated. I’m going to say Paris because it’s my favorite club. I took my first license at Paris Saint-Germain, and the club has never left my heart. This is where I cut my teeth. But there is also Flamengo because I got my first title in Rio in 2007 and I won three titles in this country. A country that has always supported and welcomed me. It is also the club in which I prepared for the Paris Olympic Games. Flamengo is therefore also in my heart.

A culinary specialty: empanadas, snails or cheeseburger?

Les empanadas, direct!

A dance: samba, French cancan or hip-hop?

Wow! I’m going to say samba because I’ve never seen something so beautiful at the Rio carnival, really. And from afar. But I would say hip-hop second because when I go to parties it’s hip-hop that makes me dance.

A champion: Pelé, Zinédine Zidane or LeBron James?

There is no photo! You tell me about Pelé… He’s the only one who won three World Cups. There is no equal in football. Winning all these titles means diligence, effort and sacrifice. We respect the prize list so… Pelé.

A monument: the Corcovado, the Eiffel Tower or Hollywood Boulevard?

I’m French so the Eiffel Tower first. This is what moves tourists around the world, far and wide. Corcovado second because it’s magnificent. It’s Brazil, it’s Rio, nothing more to say. And then the third one, I forgot it…

This is Hollywood Boulevard…

”A creation of the USA”… I went there, and I took my son there. Do you know what he told me? He said to me: “On television, it looks like it’s something sick. It can’t be that.” He was a little disappointed.

Which version of Love is Blind : Brazil, France or USA?

I believe that in the ranking France is far ahead (laughs) (Teddy Riner co-presented the French version of the show, For the best and blindlywith his partner Luthna Plocus, editor’s note). In France, we have authenticity, romance, love and emotion. Paris is the city of love.

A movie: The City of God, Untouchables or Titanic ?

I will say Untouchables. First of all, Omar Sy is my friend, he’s my brother, but this film also did everyone good. I loved it, laughed. And it was also a way to change the way we look at disability, and that’s important. This is important because we must never forget that it can happen to anyone.

A rapper: Filipe Ret, Gims or Snoop Dogg?

(He thinks) I’ll say Gims. In terms of example, of the three, I think it is the one that can do the most good for our young generation. I don’t know the Brazilian rapper who perhaps does as much as Gims for young people, but I can’t comment on him.

A future opponent for the Los Angeles Olympics: Hisayoshi Harasawa, Kim Min-jong or…?

They both lost in the final (smile). I would say… I would say… Both are not easy. I’m going to say the Japanese, Hisayoshi Harasawa.
