7 days before the end of the championship, Paris Saint-Germain took another step towards the title of champion of France this weekend. The Parisians, winners of Toulouse (3-1), take off in the standings following the defeat of their runner-up, Lens, in Lille (3-0). With 4 points in advance and a match in hand (to be played against Nantes), Luis Enrique’s men seem to have made the break at the top of Ligue 1.
Lille on the podium
LOSC took advantage of OM’s misstep in Monaco to take 3rd place. Les Gones are rewarded for their great performance during the derby.
Marseille (2-1 defeat in Monaco) and Lyon (0-0 in Angers), are experiencing a slump and will have to return to victory if they want to catch up with Lille, currently in great shape (undefeated since February 1 in Ligue 1). The Monegasques overtake the Lyonnais and come back level with OM, 4th, with 49 points.
Red alert in Nice
The only team beaten this weekend at the bottom of the ranking, OGC Nice is getting dangerously close to the red zone. Winning against Le Havre on the next day looks imperative given the upcoming schedule (trips to Lille and Marseille, then reception of Lens).
Metz only took one point at home against Nantes (0-0) while Auxerre returned from Le Havre with one point (1-1). Results which do not really help these clubs, which are stagnating at the back of the pack.
In the middle of the table, Rennes won in the Breton derby in Brest (3-4), while Lorient and Paris FC parted with a parity score (1-1).
The Ligue 1 ranking after the 28th day
The 29th day will begin on Friday with Paris FC – Monaco (7 p.m.) and Marseille – Metz (9:05 p.m.). Lens and PSG will not face each other next weekend, following the postponement of the LFP.
