Preliminary investigation into two Clermont residents after a brawl

The international pillar of Clermont (Top 14) Régis Montagne and his club teammate Lucas Tauzin, who plays in the center or on the wing, are the subject of a preliminary investigation after a brawl leaving a night establishment, the prosecution said on Sunday.

Friday shortly before midnight, the two ASM players were arrested by the police following a brawl on the public highway, an unconscious man being on the spot. The victim was transported to hospital, without his life threatening, we learned from a police source.

Taken into custody then released

Montagne and Tauzin claimed to have been attacked when leaving a night establishment by several individuals, to the point of coming to blows, according to the same source.

Placed in police custody, they have since been released without prosecution but “the preliminary investigation continues,” the prosecution told AFP.

A third man, who is not a player, was arrested at his home and also taken into custody on Saturday morning. He was also released, the prosecution said.

When questioned, the club simply confirmed the identity of the players, without further comments.
