Former Arsenal and Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger tragically died after his car crashed into a train at a level crossing


The news caused shock waves in the world of football, and more particularly in Austria. Peter Schöttel, sports director of the Austrian Football Association, was the first to pay tribute to the former national team goalkeeper, who played 33 international matches and was part of the Austrian squad at Euro 2008.
