Alex Manninger has died at the age of 48. According to Austrian media, the former goalkeeper of Arsenal, Juventus and Liverpool, among others, was hit by a train on Thursday morning while he was in a car.
The accident occurred near the Austrian village of Nussdorf am Haunsberg, not far from Salzburg. According to Austrian media, Manninger was driving a car that was hit by a train at an unguarded level crossing.

He then played in several Italian clubs, including Juventus, with whom he was crowned Italian champion in 2012. During the 2016-2017 season, his final professional year, he was under contract with Liverpool without playing a single match.
He took part in 33 caps with Austria and was included in the list for Euro 2008 co-hosted by his country, without coming into play.
